This cottage is in a beautiful area of South Devon, the South Hams. It is a stone's throw away from the sea and is one of the oldest cottages in the area, dating from the 14th century.
It is Summer, the thatch has recently been brushed and so retakes that wonderful natural glow of fresh straw; the owl sees over the roof and gardens and makes sure no other creatures damage anything.
The flowers are in full bloom with Wisteria over the porch (the oak beams in the porch are as if from an old saling ship), the 'Bottle Plant' by the wall with its strange flowers and the brilliant red Crocosmia on the front border add to the idyll.
The painting was a commission from the cottage owner and done in acrylic on a 50cm x 70cm canvas. The owner has graciously let me exhibit it here.
The Original was a private commission and not available for sale.
If you wish to purchase one or more fine-art prints of this painting please email me direct with your request to email@example.com, I shall then take up the request with the owners and contact you back.
