The River Dart is one of the most picturesque waterways in Britain. The weir at Buckfast Abbey is one of those places where nature and water shows its beauty and fascination.
The scene is in the private monastic area of Buckfast Abbey in South Devon. The Abbey itself is off-scene to the left.
See the 5 small trout resting in the lea from the current; maybe they will soon move on and leap up the weir using the fish steps just visible on the right of the scene.
The path on the far bank gives the Benedictine Community a walkway of calm solitude.
The full painting is 70cm x 50cm, I used acrylic medium on canvas, and painted on site and from a photograph.
