The medieval Abbot's Tower stands just inside the private monastic grounds at Buckfast Abbey in Devon.
It is one of the oldest of all the buildings at Buckfast Abbey dating from the 15th century. It had 3 well appointed rooms and was probably for the use of the Abbot's most important guests.
I painted the 'The Abbot's Tower'' using acrylic medium on 50cm x 70cm canvas from on-site work and a photograph.
The original painting is one of a set of privately commissioned works for the monastic community who have graciously allowed prints of it to be sold.
